Email has made it possible to communicate in writing with colleagues at work, friends across the globe and with people you have never met. You can even send photos to Grandma, word processing documents to your boss, and files to friends by attaching the relevant files to your emails.
Unfortunately, it has also made it possible for people you don't want to meet to bombard you with emails you don't want to read about subjects you don't want to hear about. This is called "unsolicited commercial email" (UCE), junk, or spam.
